1. Agreement to Terms
By downloading, installing, and using PDFUnlock ("App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree, do not use the App. Your continued use of the App constitutes acceptance of any modifications.
2. Description of Service
PDFUnlock is a mobile and desktop application available on iOS and macOS that allows users to:
- Unlock (remove password protection from) PDF documents
- Lock (add password protection to) PDF documents
The App does not guarantee compatibility with all PDF formats or encryption methods.
3. Free Tier and Paid Features
Free Usage
- Users receive 3 free PDF operations per device
- After exhausting free operations, the App displays a paywall
- The free usage counter resets only upon app reinstallation
Premium Access
- Premium access is available through a one-time in-app purchase
- The "Unlimited" product grants unlimited PDF operations
- Purchases are managed through Apple's App Store using StoreKit 2
- Refunds are governed by Apple's App Store policies, not by PDFUnlock
4. User Responsibilities & Prohibited Uses
You agree not to use PDFUnlock to:
Copyright Infringement
- Process PDFs you do not own or lack authorization to modify
- Remove encryption from copyrighted materials to circumvent intellectual property protections
Illegal Activities
- Unlock or process documents obtained through theft, fraud, or other illegal means
- Use the App in violation of any applicable law
Harmful Conduct
- Process documents containing sensitive personal information without consent
- Facilitate phishing, malware distribution, or other cybercrimes
Terms Violation
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or discover the source code
- Resell access to the App or create competing products based on it
5. Intellectual Property
PDFUnlock's IP
The App, including its design, features, code, and interface, is owned by PDFUnlock and protected by copyright and trademark law. You may use the App solely for personal, non-commercial purposes.
Your PDF Documents
- You retain all ownership and intellectual property rights to your PDF documents
- By using PDFUnlock on your documents, you do not grant us any rights to your files
- The App does not store, transmit, or process your PDFs on external servers
6. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT ANY WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED.
PDFUnlock makes no guarantees regarding:
- Compatibility with all PDF types or encryption standards
- That the App will be error-free, uninterrupted, or secure
- That the App will successfully unlock or lock all PDFs
- Recovery of lost or modified documents
7. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:
PDFUnlock and its developer shall not be liable for:
- Direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
- Loss of data, documents, or profits
- Unauthorized access to your files
- Interruption or unavailability of service
This applies even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
8. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless PDFUnlock from any claims, damages, or legal fees arising from:
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your use of the App in an unlawful manner
- Infringement of third-party rights due to your use of the App
9. In-App Purchase & Refunds
- In-app purchases are final and processed through Apple's App Store
- Refund requests must be submitted directly to Apple, not to PDFUnlock
- PDFUnlock has no ability to issue refunds or process chargebacks
10. Termination
PDFUnlock reserves the right to restrict or block access to users who violate these Terms, remove the App from the App Store at any time, and modify or discontinue features with or without notice.
11. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by applicable law. If you are located in the European Union, you may have additional consumer protection rights under EU law that cannot be waived.
12. Dispute Resolution
Before filing a legal claim, you agree to attempt good-faith resolution by contacting us through the App Store support page for PDFUnlock.
13. Modifications
PDFUnlock may update these Terms at any time. Changes will be posted here with an updated "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance.
